Abstract
Discusses the uses of concrete floors as the basis for design. Covers the structural types, presents the main issues to be addressed, and identifies useful design guides. Isolates the concretes used for floors with its specific demands. Emphasises crack control in floor design through a range of approaches, particularly through joints. Addresses properties of the floor surface, including surface finish, flatness and levelness, wear resistance and resistance to chemical attack. Also encompasses toppings and floor coverings.
