Abstract
Outlines issues affecting the exploitation of groundwater cooling systems. Introduces groundwater as a resource, how it occurs, its properties and groundwater levels in the UK. Describes the design process behind groundwater as a cooling resource by considering initial viability, necessary consents and licences, and testing boreholes before looking at the detailed design considerations for elements of the groundwater cooling system. Compares a groundwater cooling system with a vapour compression cooling system.
