Publication CS162 Slipforming of vertical structures

Publication Year

2008

Document Status

Current

Abstract

Slipforming is a fast and efficient process allowing continuous operation and does not require the use of cranes or support or access from other parts of the structure. The elements are raised vertically by jacks on rods that are cast into the concrete, forming both the support and reinforcement. The versatile process can be used for regular or tapered shapes, core walls in high-rise structures or industrial structures. This guide takes a look at the components, construction management, applications, benefits, quality control, reinforcement detailing, box-outs, openings and insert plates, types of concrete, distributing concrete for slipforming, finishes and curing and flaws and remediation.
