Publication C661 Intelligent monitoring of concrete structures

Publication Year

2008

Document Status

Current

Abstract

Examines automated methods of monitoring deterioration in concrete structures. The results from monitoring can be used to predict service life and for comparison of actual with design predicted behaviour. Automation can reduce access needs and highlight potential problems early. Aspects that can be monitored include structural change, corrosion of reinforcement, concrete temperature and moisture content. Also discusses obstacles in using automatic monitoring including accuracy, incompatibility of data used in models and what can be monitored.

Document History

The accompanying CD-ROM contains the following three reports which are available on The Construction Information Service: Automated monitoring of the deterioration of concrete structures, DTI 2007. Service life prediction of concrete structures based on automated monitoring, DTI 2007. Roadmap for the development of intelligent monitoring of concrete structures, DTI 2007.
