Abstract
Gives safety requirements for public playground equipment and surfacing, covering materials, design, manufacture, test methods, reports and marking. Annexes deal with loads, structural integrity and entrapment.

Superseded by BS EN 1176-1:2017. Supersedes BS EN 1176-1:1998 which remains current. Amendment dated September 2008 - Correction to national foreword. National foreword contains additional information regarding natural grass as playground surfacing.
