Abstract
Advises on the law as it currently stands in England and brings together the Departments guidance and policy advice on the subject of tree preservation order (TPO). The guide also suggests ways in which local planning authorities can administer the tree preservation order system in accordance with good practice. The guide has been written primarily for local planning authorities, but it should also be a useful reference point for others interested in, or whose interests are affected by, tree preservation orders. Addendum issued to reflect change to government policy in relation to the tree preservation order system including applications for consent and appeals.
