Abstract
Summarises and discusses certain proposals and locations for eco-towns on a case by case basis in terms of their impact on the economy, the community and the environment - the three dimensions of sustainable development. Each location has also been the subject of a Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA): an environmental assessment of the prospective effect of each potential eco-town on sites of European importance in terms of nature conservation.
