Abstract
Outlines a project involving the commissioning, designing and building of 106 new homes on three sites using innovative construction systems (panelised steel frame, panelised timber frame and insulating concrete formwork) alongside traditional brick and block construction. Covers the programme of measurement and monitoring undertaken over a two-year period. Presents key findings from the project and reflects on modern methods of construction in relation to costs, speed of build, affordability and quality, and sustainability.
