Abstract
Explains why EPCs have been introduced, what information will be shown on the certificate, how and where an EPC is obtained, which public buildings must display EPCs, how to ensure the EPC is valid, who has responsibility for displaying an EPC, where it must be placed and when to update an EPC. Addresses consequences for not displaying an EPC, and how to replace them.

The Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA) was disbanded on 1 April 2008 and its functions to administer the Building Standards system in Scotland were transferred back to the Scottish Government. The Building Standards Division includes Planning and Architectural Policy.
