Abstract

Gives design criteria for steel structures in seismic zones, together with the main features of seismic codes. Describes the design procedure from the definition of seismic actions to the structural analysis methods. Presents special requirements for material properties of basic steel, bolts and welds. Examines the behaviour of connection, members, and structural steels. Addresses structural ductility and regularity. Considers the advantages of concentric and eccentric bracings according to their cyclic behaviour. Includes practical examples.
