Abstract

Concerns usual plated structures with webs subject mainly to in-plane bending and flanges subject to axial forces. Considers ultimate limit state in terms of effective width approach and effective stress approach (an alternative design procedure) for longitudinally stiffened webs of plate and box girders. Covers design of stiffeners. Addresses ultimate and serviceability limit states for stiffened compression flanges of box girders.
