Abstract

Enables designers, consultants and contractors to understand and apply BS EN 1504 and other related concrete repair and protection standards. Covering the deterioration process, giving background, principles, environmental influences and structural damage; expanding on the repair process including arresting degradation, minimum requirements, treatments for exposed steel, prevention and strengthening weakened structures. Offers general principles on the use of products and then looks in detail at surface protection systems, repair mortars, structural bonding and reinforcement protection, concrete injection and anchoring of reinforcing steel. Discusses achieving successful repairs and how to implement the sections and looks at performance-based rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures and the CONREPNET project and advises on assessment, testing, monitoring and routine maintenance.
