Abstract
Discusses the implications of change introduced by the Code for sustainable homes (CSH) regarding thermal performance, enhanced insulation and reducing air leakage. Examines different ways for achieving the mandatory energy and CO2 requirements and displays a comparison of the common house types with varying thermal performance, use of renewables and services, details design considerations and looks at solutions for external walls. Offers suggestions for change to Part L1 and interprets the CSH showing routes to compliance at each level.
