Abstract
Specifies a method for determining the consistency of fresh concrete by means of the Vebe time. Fresh concrete is compacted into a slump mould, the mould is then lifted clear and a transparent disc is swung over the top and carefully lowered until it comes into contact with the concrete. Slump of the concrete is recorded. A vibrating table is then started and the time it takes the lower surface of the transparent disc to be fully in contact with the grout is measured - the Vebe time. Covers: apparatus; test sample; procedure; test result; test report; and precision.
