Publication 354 Design of floors for vibration: a new approach (including Corrigenda 1 and 2)

Publication Year

2007

Document Status

Withdrawn

Abstract

Outlines theory and sources of vibrations. Identifies architectural and structural considerations for floors. Defines acceptability of vibrations, in part in relation to perception. Describes general assessment for establishing vibration response, establishing criteria by which it is measured, and a simplified assessment for steel floors. The design procedures are valid for steel-framed floors using hot rolled steel sections and lightweight floors using thin cold-formed steel members. The simplified procedure is suited to framing arrangements that are generally regular in plan.
