Abstract
Provides local authorities with guidance on the management of bridges and other highway structures in an ever changing environment. It creates a strong foundation for bridge inspection and maintenance policy. Covers planning aspects of asset management, financial and resource accounting, maintenance, inspection, testing and monitoring, assessment of structures, abnormal loads and asset information management. Updated in 2009 to reflect changes to statutory duties and developments and advances in good practice.
