Abstract
Sets out the Government's comprehensive policy framework for planning for sustainable economic development in urban and rural areas.
Document History
Supersedes Planning policy statement 6 (PPS6): planning for town centres (ODPM, 2005); PPG 4: industrial and commercial development and small firms; and PPG 5: simplified planning zones (both DOE, 1992). Also partially supersedes Planning policy statement 7: sustainable development in rural areas (ODPM, 2004) - applies to economic development sections only. To be read with PPS4 impact assessment and Planning for town centres - practice guidance on need, impact and the sequential approach (both DCLG, 2009). Superseded by National planning policy framework (DCLG, 2012).
