Abstract
Describes findings of an investigation into the origin of the perceived conflicting recommendations in Part L. Relates the examination of daylight and solar transmission properties of rooflights using lighting simulation techniques, and the notion of ‘adequate’ daylighting is given a quantitative basis. Identifies factors relating to the design and operation of rooflights and the level of expected internal gains as likely causes for the perceived conflict in Part L. Proposes refinements to the assessment method for daylighting and solar gain.
Document History
