Abstract
Describes the role of the engineer undertaking the preparatory work and/or acting as an Expert Witness for the purpose of Court or other proceedings arising out of a dispute. Though not comprehensive, it aims to assist engineers intending to undertake work as Experts and also to assist their Clients in understanding the nature of the work.
Document History
June 2009 amendment covers expert immunity, legal privilege, expert's bias, changes to the civil procedure regarding costs, court management of disputes, expert's protocol and professional indemnity insurance. February 2010 amendment covers changes to the statements to be made in experts' reports, proportionate written questions, single joint expert criteria, discussions between experts and questions to experts.
