Abstract
Contains design guidance for the selection of steel for fracture toughness and for through thickness properties of welded elements where there is a significant risk of lamellar tearing during fabrication.
Document History
This document is considered to be a first generation Eurocode and is the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. A period now exists to prepare for the transition between first and second generation Eurocodes. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS 449-2:1969, BS 5400-3:2000, BS 5950-1:2000 and DD ENV 1993-1-1:1992. Amendment 16293 is Corrigendum No.1 dated June 2006 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum December 2005. Amendment 16569 is Corrigendum No.2 dated September 2006 - Revision of national foreword and supersession details. Amendment dated 28 February 2010 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum March 2009. To enable EN 1993-1-10 to be used in the UK, the NDPs have been published in a National Annex, which has been issued separately by BSI.
