Abstract
Deals with the following requirement; L1A Conservation of fuel and power in new dwellings.
Document History
Comes into effect 1 October 2010 and will replace the 2006 edition (ODPM). Changes introduced by this 2010 edition include: legal requirements - tightening up of energy efficiency provision exemption for extensions, new requirement for CO2 emission rate calculations under regulation 17C to be submitted to the Building Control Body prior to building work starting. Technical guidance changes include use of SAP 2009 to calculate annual CO2 emission rates for completed dwellings, the notional dwelling targets now include a zero rate for party wall heat loss, secondary heating is counted in the annual CO2 emission rate only when provided for and credit is allowed wherever low-energy lighting is installed, a strengthening of reasonable limits for building fabric and services performance specifications, revision to guidance for thermal bridging at construction joints, guidance for limiting heat loss from swimming pool basins in new dwellings and guidance relating to presenting evidence demonstrating compliance with energy efficiency requirements and highlights key features critical to achieving annual CO2 emission rate targets.
