Abstract
Deals with the following requirements: L2A Conservation of fuel and power in new buildings other than dwellings.
Document History
Came into effect 1 October 2010 and replaces the 2006 edition (ODPM). Changes introduced by this 2010 edition include: legal requirements - tightening up of energy efficiency provision exemption for extensions, new requirement for CO2 emission rate calculations under regulation 17C to be submitted to the Building Control Body prior to building work starting. Technical guidance changes include using a notional building the same size and shape as the actual building when calculating TER, with freedom to vary specification providing the same overall level of CO2 emission is achieved or bettered. Guidance for shell and core development and first fit-out work, an updated procedure relating to limiting effects of solar gain in summer, revision to guidance for thermal bridging at construction joints, guidance for limiting heat loss from swimming pool basins in new buildings and guidance for presenting evidence demonstrating compliance with energy efficiency requirements and highlights key features critical to achieving annual CO2 emission rate targets. Includes index.
