Abstract

Adopting passive safety in design will promote safer roadsides. This guide covers prioritising roads for passive safety, passive safety clear zones, looks at the requirements of BS EN 12767:2007 on support structures for road equipment, product performance class recommendations, offers guidance on specifying signposts to BS EN 12899, lighting columns to BS EN 40, signal poles and power supplies.
