Abstract
Sets out the methodological background to the English House Condition Survey. Survey results relate to continuous fieldwork carried out between April 2006 and March 2008 and are presented as applying at the mid-point of this period, 1 April 2007. The results are based on an achieved sample of 16,217 dwellings and 15,604 households.

Supersedes English house condition survey - technical report (2005 edition) (DCLG, 2007). No longer applicable, as in April 2008 the English House Condition Survey was integrated with the Survey of English Housing to form the English Housing Survey (EHS).
