Abstract
Advises on the lighting of educational spaces, lecture theatres, teaching rooms, conference rooms and multi-purpose rooms and on the visual problems that may arise. Factors that may need to be taken into consideration include not only lighting equipment and controls and its positioning but also decoration and finishes, sightlines and access doors. Planning is a vital part of the process as is due consideration to both natural and electric lighting, which is often dealt with late in the design process. This guide covers components, lighting options, lighting design guidance, lighting for particular applications, checklist for lighting design, maintenance, management, costs and equipment.
