Abstract
Reports on an investigation into practical design and construction issues of improving the airtightness of speculatively built mainstream housing (masonry cavity and steel frame construction types). The project proceeded over three phases, 25 houses built Part L 2002 with no overall influence on design, airtightness measured and feedback given to developers with suggestions for improvements and finally a further 25 houses built. Airtightness measurements from both sets of houses were compared and analysed.
