Abstract
Provides guidance on selecting and placing hardcore in building construction, taking account of recent standards for specifying aggregate materials. Part 2 deals with placing and compacting hardcore material. It also reviews some unsuitable materials that were previously used for hardcore, both as a cautionary note and as a guide for dealing with legacy problems in existing buildings.
