Abstract

Phase 2 consultation proposes to replace the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000 with a new Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2011. This phase of the consultation will introduce new guidance-based Technical Booklets (B: Materials and workmanship, D: Structure, J: Solid waste in buildings and R: Access to and use of buildings) as well as technical uplifts and new guidance-based Technical Booklets (F: Conservation of fuel and power, K: Ventilation, L: Combustion appliances and fuel storage systems and P: Sanitary appliances and unvented hot water storage systems). There will also be amendments to Part H: Stairs, ramps, guarding and protection from impact and Technical Booklets E: Fire safety, N: Drainage and A: Interpretation and general.
