To ensure compliance with EC Directive 2008/96/EC during road safety audits.

Wales only IANs are issued by the Welsh Government. They contain specific guidance, to be used only in connection with works on the motorway and trunk road network in Wales. IANs must be read in conjunction with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW). Supplementary guidance for DMRB Volume 5 Section 2 Part 2 HD 19/03. Applicable to Wales only. Wales only Interim Advice Notes were previously published by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG).
