Abstract
Provides advice on the planning process for dealing with proposals for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs). Explains the Planning Inspectorate’s outreach programme and contains some practical tips for applicants, local authorities and others on how to work together more effectively. Covers: aims of the programme of outreach work; the inception meeting; Planning Inspectorate letter; stakeholder workshop; information campaign; action planning; benefits of joint working; making use of planning performance agreements and charters; joint working across local authority boundaries; and further information and support.
Document History
Supersedes version 1 (IPC, 2010). Under the Localism Act 2011, the IPC is abolished with its work being transferred to the National Infrastructure Directorate, created within the Planning Inspectorate. Consequently, all IPC advice notes have been republished by the Planning Inspectorate.
