Abstract
Provides advice on the planning process for dealing with proposals for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs). Deals with: pre-consultation requirements that apply to all applications for development consent orders; information to be contained in developers' screening and scoping requests under the Infrastructure Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2009; notification and consultation with prescribed consultation bodies and other consultees; and publication of screening and scoping opinions.

Superseded by version 4 (PINS, 2013). Supersedes version 2 (IPC, 2012). Under the Localism Act 2011, the IPC is abolished with its work being transferred to the National Infrastructure Directorate, created within the Planning Inspectorate. Consequently, all IPC advice notes have been republished by the Planning Inspectorate.
