Abstract
Provides advice on the planning process for dealing with proposals for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs). Sets out the procedures for consultation in association with an application for a development consent order (DCO), where such development has significant transboundary impacts. Also sets out how the obligations under regulation 24 of the Infrastructure Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2009 (as amended) will be met particularly in the light of the timetable under the Planning Act 2008.

Under the Localism Act 2011, the IPC is abolished with its work being transferred to the National Infrastructure Directorate, created within the Planning Inspectorate. Consequently, all IPC advice notes have been republished by the Planning Inspectorate.
