Abstract
Explores the use of RFID tags in a motorway re-surfacing scheme, to determine whether tags could be read at practical traffic speeds by a vehicle-mounted antenna and how much data could be read. The results proved positive for using RFID in asset management processes and further trials could be developed to explore insertion and reading processes, data encoding, links to a network database and data transmission and updating tags in-situ.
