Abstract
Looks at the issues that have arisen due to reactive pyrite occurring in a significant number of houses in the area of north County Dublin, Kildare, Offaly and Meath. The pyrite was discovered in the hardcore used in these areas to fill the sub-floors of a number of private housing developments. This report identifies the emergence and scale of the problem, lessons learnt and developments in building control to avoid this reoccurring.
