Abstract
Set outs the process for the Joint Housing Land Availability Studies for 2012 onwards. The main changes from the 2011 process relate to data collection and report preparation. The preparation of the site schedules previously undertaken by Welsh Government officials will now be the responsibility of each local planning authority (as recommended in the review carried out by Barton Willmore in 2011). In addition, each local planning authority will be responsible for preparing their study report in a standard format. Technical Advice Note 1 (TAN 1) remains the primary source of guidance for Joint Housing Land Availability Studies, supplemented by this guidance. However the revised process set out in this guidance has implications for some of the guidance in TAN 1 and this Note therefore also addresses these issues. This guidance has been prepared to take account of the key issues that arose during the process of preparing the 2011 Studies. These issues are addressed in a new section of 'Further Guidance'.
