Abstract

Aims to give architects and builders a basic understanding of structural elements for the purpose of preliminary (schematic) design. Some knowledge of structural behaviour and the potential of structural materials is useful when working in collaboration with structural engineers. Covers the concepts of statistics and strength of materials, how these concepts can be applied to design, and structural systems comprised of elements which are interconnected in a coherent pattern.
