Abstract
Provides guidance on how the built environment can be designed to improve the experience and outcome of renal patients. Identifies the accommodation requirements of a main renal unit comprising facilities for haemodialysis, teaching peritoneal dialysis, ward for inpatients, outpatients, the maintenance and repair of haemodialysis machines, the administration of renal services, and independent home haemodialysis training.

Supersedes Space for Health: Clinical Services 'Main renal unit: Planning and design manual' and 'Main renal unit: Policy and service context manual', which replaced HBN 07-02 Renal care - main renal unit (2008).
