Abstract
Provides evidence to inform the review of the planning system in Wales, in the area of planning enforcement. The study collected evidence on possible measures suggested by past reviews and in the Independent Advisory Group report: ‘Towards a Welsh Planning Act: Ensuring the Planning System Delivers’. Case studies and interviews have been used to test these measures. A Welsh Local Authority survey was also conducted to give a snap shot of the way planning enforcement is being carried out in Wales currently. The research covers 18 recommendations for the future Welsh enforcement system and this includes 8 which will require new laws.
