Abstract
Explores the effects activities in municipal recycling and refuse facilities can have on the concrete floors, including abrasion damage from the domestic waste being tipped from refuse collection vehicles, or from being handled by shovels. Looks at the processes, floor design working life, abrasion experienced, abrasion resistance, acidity and heat, floor structural type, floor resistance, thickness and types of concrete used, curing and joints, finishing, rubber wear strips and alternatives to a concrete wearing surface.
