Abstract
Presents an international collaboration for sharing knowledge on good practice for management and design of levees. Covers levees in flood risk management, construction and design, operation and maintenance, inspection, assessment and risk attribution, emergency management and operations, site characterisation and data requirements, physical processes and tools for levee assessment and design. This chapter concentrates on the organisation of the construction process, hydro-meteorological conditions, setting up and managing the site, the fundamentals of earth construction and methods of construction.
