What colour is your building? Measuring and reducing the energy and carbon footprint of buildings
Publication Year

Abstract
Looks at quantifying the energy consumption and carbon footprint of buildings, in particular office buildings. The footprint includes operational use such as heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, water, computers and other powered equipment. Measurement also considers the energy used to get people to and from a building, and the energy consumed in construction, refurbishment or demolition phases. Practical guidance is given on reducing the footprint, in particular renewable energy, the use of lower carbon materials in construction and how to encourage greener modes of transport.
