DMRB Volume 3 Section 4 Part 4 (BA 39/14) Road structures: Inspection and maintenance. Assessment. Assessment of reinforced concrete half-joints
Publication Year

Abstract
Applicable to both upper and lower reinforced concrete half-joints. The guidance may also be applied to pre-tensioned and post-tensioned prestressed half-joints which for this purpose can be considered as reinforced concrete elements. For pre-tensioned members, the prestressing force and tendons should be ignored, but for post-tensioned members the prestressing force should be considered as an external force acting on the half-joint. The behaviour of half-joints has been found to be influenced by the eccentricity of the reaction and the type of bearing. This Advice Note covers the use of both rigid and flexible bearings.
