Abstract

Aims to equip all those involved in the design of development with advice on: how 'Promoting sustainability through good design' and 'Planning for sustainable buildings' may be facilitated through the planning system; and the preparation and validation of mandatory design and access statements. TAN 12 has been amended to include key elements of the guidance on sustainable buildings contained in the now cancelled TAN 22, particularly information on the energy hierarchy; allowable solutions; and sustainable building policies on strategic sites in local development plans.
