Abstract
Provides guidance for temporary traffic management (TTM) on the approach zones at road works where "relaxation scheme" works criteria apply, to reduce risks to road workers. Introduces optional alternative TTM techniques.
Document History
Interim Advice Notes (IANs) are issued by the Highways Agency from time to time. They contain specific Guidance, which shall only be used in connection with works on motorways and trunk roads in England, subject to any specific implementation instructions contained within an IAN. Whilst IANs must be read in conjunction with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW) for the above works, and may incorporate amendments or additions to documents in these manuals, they are not part of the DMRB or MCHW. Supplementary to (but does not replace any elements of) the existing guidance given in DfT Traffic Signs Manual - Chapter 8 (2009 revision), IAN 163/12, IAN 180/14 and IAN 181/14. HA IAN 150/11 dated December 2011 was withdrawn from use 29/11/2012. HA IAN 150/12 dated November 2012 (revised November 2013) was withdrawn from use 05/03/2014. Supersedes HA IAN 150/14 which is withdrawn from use with immediate effect. Accompanied by an operational monitoring proforma in spreadsheet format which cannot be delivered via The Construction Information Service. It is important to note that IAN 150/14 Revision 01 applies only to "relaxation scheme" works, on dual carriageways, including relaxation scheme works which are being provided as part of major schemes. It does not apply to "standard scheme" works.
