Abstract
Provides guidance for complying with the building regulations and in particular standards 6.3 to 6.7 in Section 6 (energy) of the 2015 Domestic Technical Handbook. Covers Gas and oil-fired space and water heating, electric, solid fuel, community and underfloor heating, mechanical ventilation, heat pumps, comfort cooling, solar water heating, lighting, micro-combined heat and power and heating system circulators.

This supporting guidance has been published in advance to support investigation into and the development of solutions to meet new standards. Will be applicable to work that is subject to a building warrant submitted on or after 1 October 2015; or work which, by virtue of regulation 5 of and Schedule 3 to the Building (Scotland) regulations 2004, does not require a building warrant, other than work that is completed before 1 October 2015, or not completed before that date where the contract for the work is entered into before 1 October 2015 and the work is completed before 31 January 2016. Any reference to the Building Regulations in this guide is to the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (as amended).
