Provides guidance for the use of temporary backfill at road works, as a technique to reduce traffic congestion due to road works. Highlights the advantages and disadvantages of using this method and indicates situations where it is most effective, also covers trench volume, depth and shoring, materials, placement and compaction, effect on apparatus, settlement, removal and storage and asphalt specification and layer thickness.
