Abstract
Provides guidance for the use of road plates at road works, as a technique to reduce traffic congestion due to road works. This method is used to temporarily return roads with unreinstated excavations to service. Covers when to use road plates, plant requirements, types of plate, wheel loading, types of mounting, profile and speed considerations, recess formings and fixings, shoring, safety, noise levels, traffic speed, inspection and maintenance and includes a case study involving welded plain steel plates.
