Abstract
Specifies a method of test to assess the durability of adhesion in base and binder course asphalt mixtures. Uses the (SATS) conditioning regime to age the specimens in the presence of water, and gives a comparative test for assessment of performance before and after conditioning. The method gives details of apparatus, sample manufacture and safety considerations. It is limited to specimens with consistent air voids contents and hard binder, typically concrete mixtures with a binder content between 3.5% and 5.5%, and air voids between 6 and 10%.
