Abstract
Part of a series considering how planning can help to 'future-proof' society, to enable populations around the world adapt and cope with major challenges ahead in the twenty first century. This paper examines the impact of urban areas on the health and wellbeing of their resident populations, focusing particularly on the physical and social environmental factors that can harm health and wellbeing.
