Abstract
Provides guidance for temporary traffic management (TTM) on the approach zone and lane change zone, for relaxation schemes on dual carriageways. Building upon guidance offered in the Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 8 Part 1 and Part 2. Only applies to relaxation schemes on dual carriageways, including relaxation schemes which are being provided as part of major schemes. It does not apply to standard schemes.

Superseded by: HE IAN 150/16. Interim Advice Notes (IANs) are issued by the Highways England from time to time. They contain specific Guidance, which shall only be used in connection with works on motorways and trunk roads in England, subject to any specific implementation instructions contained within an IAN. Whilst IANs must be read in conjunction with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW) for the above works, and may incorporate amendments or additions to documents in these manuals, they are not part of the DMRB or MCHW. Supplementary to (but does not replace any elements of) the existing guidance given in DfT Traffic Signs Manual - Chapter 8 (2009 revision), IAN 163/12, IAN 180/14 and IAN 181/14. HA IAN 150/11 dated December 2011 was withdrawn from use 29/11/2012. HA IAN 150/12 dated November 2012 (revised November 2013) was withdrawn from use 05/03/2014. HA IAN 150/14 published March 2014 was withdrawn from use July 2014. HA IAN 150/14 Revision 01 dated July 2014. HA IAN 150/14 Revision 02 was withdrawn from use 15/09/2015. Accompanied by an operational monitoring proforma in spreadsheet format which cannot be delivered via The Construction Information Service.
